Nuclear waste has no place to go
In a pool of water just a football field away from Lake Michigan, about 1,000 tons of highly radioactive fuel from the scuttled Zion Nuclear Power Station is waiting for someplace else to spend a few thousand ...

Thats what they made Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository for, but there has been so much contreversy over it, that it hasn't been used, even though it is below the water table, in a salt mine (which prevents any of it getting out, naturally, like how it traps oil and gas) and there has even been a rail line built to serve it. A waste if it is not used due to some politicians when it is already almost done after 22 years.
