Hello Ladies, Gentlemen, boys, girls.

At first, thanks for reading.
We are two students from the Netherlands (16 and 17 years old) and we have a few questions for a social studies assignment. We would like to discuss Obama by asking you these questions. So we can use the outcome of the questions for our assignment. Please don't forget to state your age, race, country of birth and gender.

Questions we would like for you to answer:

-	What is your view about the American government since the beginning of Barack Obama’s presidency?
-	What has changed in the economical sector since president Obama has been in office?
-	What has changed in America’s culture since president Obama has been in office?
-	What do you notice of change in office? Does the media influence this?

Thank you very much for helping us.

I am really happy that Barack is our president because he represents hope and
change. This country has had so many hard times in the past-- the '67 riots the segregation the slavery, etc.,. I think that the election of Barry Obama is THE single greatest event of this young 21st century. And when all is said and done, in 2100, future generations will look back and say "that is when it all changed for the better".

So, to all the Obama haters, I say sit back and enjoy the ride. We're in for a beautiful journey. Also, the economy is getting better in large part due to the policies and efforts of our President. So there is nothing bad to be mad about (like some posters think). We're in for the golden age of America.

Here's the first one:

Out of the gates of heaven flows the river of life:
On the other side of the river is the tree of life, eat the fruit of this tree and you will live forever.
The Cell Cycle:

I believe that sometime during the end of the last ice age we made contact, with God and he revealed some very interesting information to us. I believe he had to dumb it down so we (stone age folks) could understand it. The Bible is a fairly accurate reference to the beginning of recorded time but is biased and misinterpreted to a degree.
14,000 years ago the ice began receding, a place like the Mesopotamian valley would have been an eden. As the Earth slowly warmed up variations in climatic conditions would have occurred. One of which would have been the ocean levels rising and great floods and storms. 10,000 years ago a flood covering the entire globe, not possible, but entire Mesopotamian Valley flooded is likely. To the point I believe a water source in the middle Mesopotamian Valley may have had a hot springs that perked up one of the Archaea species. Maybe it aided in breaking down protein, or helped us retain minerals, it possibly could of helped the cell split true due to something we don't understand. I also believe that the water source was destroyed in a flood. I've heard from some historians that the Noah (Utnapishtim) story was borrowed by the Habiru http://www.imninalu.net/Habiru.htm from a very early Sumerian legends :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_of_Gilgamesh

Other reference's are made though out history one such being:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_of_Youth

Adapted from Justin Webb's America

The stem cell decision is indeed a repudiation of a Bush policy but it is more: the strange death of socially conservative America, which began in the mid-terms in 2006, continues apace. The repudiation is of a policy but also of a way of life, that puts faith above science.

The initial Republican take from their most vocal congressional spokesman struck me as vapid. You can attack the decision on grounds of morality if you believe that embyos are people as John Boehner, the Republican leader in the House later did with his statement: "Taxpayer dollars should not aid the destruction of innocent human life."

You can also attack it on grounds of practicality if you believe that it will lead to very little real progress. But to suggest it kinda doesn't matter? Mr Cantor didn't even recognise the obvious fact that the move will bring economic benefits .

As for the poltics of it - as I have said previously one cure that genuinely affects thousands of Americans, one piece of real progress, and the Republicans will be sunk. Meanwhile the jury is out.

I should add a personal note: my son, of whom I have written recently, has type one diabetes and could one day be cured by stem cell treatment. I do not resent Mr Boehner's views but I note with real anticipation that America, with all its energy and zest for improvement and technical knowhow and openness to ideas and talent, is now able to devote much more of those qualities to this field. I have faith!

We deal with communist China every day... they buy our bad debt. This is no longer a 1950s-1960s world where commies are the bad guys and capitalists are the good guys. If we establish a full trade agreement with Cuba and allow tourism to flourish into and out of Cuba, it would open up a new market for American businesses and help Cuba's economy surge like it hasn't done in decades. Times are getting tough in Mexico and we're very likely to have a socialist or a communist hard liner in Mexico within the next few years that will promise to clean up Mexico but it will strain relations with the US.

That being said, having a relationship with Cuba could soften that blow.
We want to know how the economic crisis and this recovery program are affecting you. If you're an employer, are they affecting your thinking about your business or personnel decisions?
I wanted to take a moment and share with you something a friend of mine wrote after President Obama's inauguration.

The First Speech
By Shawn “Michka” Grant

The people, the sights, the sounds
OUR colored flags all around.
An anxious peace
Consumes my blood
While others scared
Hide in the mud.
Once again we watch
As a nation united
While a new leader
Honors those who alighted.
Even though his first speech
Refuses applause
The words within
Resound giving pause.
Words like defeat, unity,
Diversity, and pride
Overshadow the feelings of fear
And anxiety inside.
The world as we know
Is about to change.
Keeping the wheels in motion,
He will arrange.
Omitting words of promise
Replaced by truth and hope
Set as High as another star
Seen in the telescope.
No clichés or unnecessary
Quotes were used.
Of that, he could
Never be accused.
The words were poignant,
Stern and clear.
Words that generations
To come will hold dear.
Some will say he was too harsh
And out of place.
But isn’t it time
Our leader was in our face?
All the wrongdoings
He will be to blame
But in the end
It won’t be his name.
A victory to war

Will he lead in the end?
The pages of the future
We cannot bend.
Will we be lead to an era
Of better health?
Or can we get back
Our extended wealth?
New laws, new programs
Will leave his hands
For knowledge, technology,
And growth in our lands.
The unexpected challenges
He will face
With certainty
We cannot erase.
The mistakes of those
Left behind
Everyday waking
Fresh on his mind
Hoping to lead
And not do the same.
Two parties struggle,
He hopes to tame.
We hear his words
Take them to heart
Knowing it’s time
We all do our part.
Bring a dying earth
Back to life,
Bring peace to worlds
Full of strife.
Bring hope to those
Who have lost their will.
The shoes of these prior
He steps in to fill.
All of these things
And those yet told
We watch and wait
For them to unfold.
With strength, courage
A myriad of ability
Comes a nation entering
An era of responsibility.

Nothing would please me more than to see this spread. Hope is the best virus any of us can catch.

I am not on welfare, but I am often in the present of those who are. I hear the distressful stories, of those whom are having a hard time, trying to work with a system that is suppose to be a guide and help to a better life for them. However, all I hear is frustration about a system that is causing people, especially single women with children, more stress, because of their situation. This is not fair!

It takes a man and a woman to have a baby, but oft times it is the women who is left holding the bag.(responsibility of the child) However, when they come to the only place deemed as the place for assistance to help them take care of that child(ren). The woman is made to feel total responsible, and the man in these cases are free of responsibility, blame, and shame.

I would like to see Our New President/and his Staff pass laws that will force these dead beat dads, to face hard consequences, and be made to do what ever they have to do; just like the women(mothers) of these unsupported children.

There should be parent classes for the men whom also help develop these children. So they can learn to be accountable,or be taught other alternatives, besides abandoning these children. There should be penalties for continuing to produce these children; in the first place.
Example:Program for Dead Beat Dads(Abandon Children's Act)

If they have one child that they are not supporting and the system is helping, then a red flag should go up, and this man should then be classed as a candidate for the program/class. He would have to adhere to the program or training, because he engaged in having another child in which he was not capable of taking care of.
This is one issue, that I see needs to be on Our New Presidents Agenda. There is more to be said about the Clinton's Welfare Reform, which has proven to be unsuccessful.
Thank you !

Since Obama is now in office, I hope that he will find a way to create more jobs for people so that everyone will have jobs and no one is left behind because of their unemployment status.

Finding work even at Wal Mart is a difficult task. They're hiring new workers but as long as the new workers meet the minimum standards and desire the least amount of wage, anyone else that needs more than them are rooted out.
Take note that this isn't about Wal Mart, this is about unemployment in general.

Some people work most of their lives making and saving their income so that they can retire and live the rest of their years off in peace. Some people invest in the stock market and hope to make it big in a short amount of time. If they are able to obtain this freedom, what about the rest of us who are on our way to that age?

What do you guys define as success?

Is it financial freedom? Making more than you are spending? Or just having a huge load of cash in the bank and not touching it until you're rich?
